Volunteer Projects

The Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rotary Club supports the local community and beyond with our volunteer opportunities.

Here are a few of our many projects:

  • Turkey Chase

Our largest fundraiser is our Thanksgiving Day race (10k, 2k, tot trot) co-sponsored with the B-CC YMCA. The race takes place in downtown Bethesda.  Started in 1982, the race has grown to be one of the largest charity races in the area. To learn more, visit https://www.turkeychase.com/

  • Feed Bethesda

With the support of the club foundation and other local Rotary clubs,  members come together to provide Thanksgiving food baskets and grocery store gift cards to more than 240 food-insecure families in the community.

  • Children's Shopping Spree

The club buys necessities and gifts for children at two local elementary schools. School staff identify the economically challenged students and provide the club with wish lists.

  • End Polio Now

Each year, the club holds a holiday party hosted by a club member. Donations from the party support The Rotary Foundation for Polio Plus. Happy Bucks donated during weekly club meetings are also donated to the fund.

  • Backpack Program

The club supports children at Bethesda Elementary by working with the Women Who Care Ministries to provide food for the Weekend Backpack Program weekend food on a monthly basis.

  • Service Days

The club sponsors collection drives and purchasing of essential items to support families in Montgomery County through charities such as A Wider Circle. Members also donate time to the organizations.
